Degebe Country House

The place itself is lovely, and the rooms are beautiful. At first, the staff seemed very friendly, but I had a really unpleasant experience after leaving a bikini in my room. Once I noticed it was missing, I contacted them and asked if they could send it to me by post. I got no reply to my message and had to call several times. Eventually, they sent me a rude message saying the bikini wasn't there. But how could it not be, when I left it there? I asked them to check with the staff and review the cameras in the public areas, such as the pool and balconies. They didn't seem willing to help or take responsibility for finding a solution at any point. If rooms are cleaned and checked after guests leave, I don't understand how this could happen. I'm posting this to warn others in case something similar happens to them. This experience says a lot to me about the people working there and how they respond when something goes wrong. I'll make sure as many relevant organizations as possible hear about it.

Just outside Évora, it's a peaceful, welcoming place with lovely service. The rooms are neat and have everything you need, and the decor has a rustic, luxurious feel. The staff were fantastic.

Breakfast was generous and delicious. The room was spacious and tastefully furnished, with a lovely view of the pool and direct access to it. The bathroom was large and beautiful. A superb guesthouse.

Between trips to Évora and the nearby villages, this was a wonderfully relaxing place to come back to. DH Country House is in the countryside, about 6 km from Évora, so it's easy to reach. There are only a few rooms, all facing the garden and lovely pool area. We stayed in the Queen room, which had a distinctive mix of antiques and modern furnishings. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was spacious and modern with a large shower, and both the room and the rest of the property were spotless. Susanna was a gracious host. We stayed two nights and loved it.
