We chose this place because it was the only one in our price range where we could get a suite with its own bathroom. They also have rooms with shared bathrooms. It's a short walk to the main bars and restaurants and everything else we needed, and towels were provided. The room was small but worked fine as a base. The shower tray leaks onto the floor, though I guess they know, since there's a drain in the middle. There was only one toilet roll for our three nights. The door combination didn't work despite several tries, so we had to open the main door using a link sent in a message. It deactivates the lock electronically, and I don't know how we'd have got in if my phone had died. On our last day, a staff member walked straight into the room, presumably thinking we'd checked out. Luckily, I wasn't naked! It's a basic, budget place, cheap and cheerful enough. For luxury, go to the hotel down the road.

The location was great for a quick overnight stay. There were four of us, and our room was spacious. The toilet was right next to it, but it smelled, and incense sticks were being used to cover the stench. There was also a shared kitchen.

Filipe and his team were a real help, taking care of our requests and sorting out any problems. We stayed a week at Albergaria Formosa and would happily return. The room was small, but clean and cozy, and we were out most of the time anyway. We ate breakfast and sometimes dinner on the terrace and patio, and could also use the shared kitchen. A small gripe: some guests left their dishes unwashed. The location worked well, close to the train and bus station, the city center, and the marina. If you want luxury, AT Eva Senses is an option.

The owner was kind and helpful, and the hostel had a pleasant little indoor spot to sit. We spent two nights at Albergaria Formosa. It was surprisingly quiet, and simple but nice. The first photo is close to the hostel, and the video shows the small indoor area I mentioned.
