Hospedaria Frangaria

The attached restaurant serves hearty Portuguese food, which is handy if you arrive late or don’t want to go far. The staff were friendly and helpful, and a special thanks to the girl at the front desk for being so nice. Frangaria is a clean, reliable place to stop before or after a flight, with good value for money. It’s a guesthouse or budget hotel rather than a hostel, with spacious, clean private rooms, comfortable beds, good air conditioning, and modern bathrooms. The property sits on a main road, a short drive from Faro Airport. It’s not in the old town, but you can get around by taxi, bus, or car, and there’s free parking if you’ve rented a car. The area is quiet and practical, though not especially scenic, and there isn’t nightlife right outside. For central Faro or the beaches, it helps to have your own transport or plan ahead for taxis. Some rooms facing the road get a bit of traffic noise, so light sleepers may want to ask for a room at the back.

The staff were polite and professional, and the cleanliness was absolutely perfect. The pool was spotless, too, and open from 11 to 19. There’s plenty of storage, plus a working TV, A/C, and bathtub. Some towels are worn and could do with replacing, though they’re clean. The room was comfortable. When I mentioned the noisy minifridge to reception, they swapped it for a quiet one within 10 minutes. Breakfast is simple but good, with honeycomb, fresh pancakes and maple syrup, a nice fruit selection, and a good coffee machine. It was better than I expected from a 3 stars hotel. I don’t rate the location, since I’d just use Google Maps to choose somewhere near the places you plan to visit. There’s a Continente supermarket within walking distance, and a taxi or Uber to or from the airport costs 5-10 euros because it’s so close.

We needed somewhere close to the airport, so Frangaria Hostel was ideally located for us. The room was comfortable, clean, and well equipped. The staff were exceptionally friendly and always ready to help with anything we needed. We had a great stay and highly recommend it.
