Melaya Budget Hostel

Don’t book this hostel. It may be cheap, but the owner humiliated me. He is the same Brazilian boss as at another Faro hostel called “Melaya Private Rooms.” He watched guests through a camera and shouted at me. He also kicked me out because I had my one-year-old baby with me, then made me cancel the reservation without refunding me through the platform. It felt like a complete rip-off. If you stay at either hostel without anything going wrong, that’s luck. But when a problem does come up, this Brazilian boss will yell at you and humiliate you. He isn’t an honest businessperson.

It’s really cheap, which could suit someone with very little money for accommodation. But the walls are thin, there’s nowhere to just hang out, and the hallway showers weren’t very clean. During our three-day stay, I didn’t meet a single staff member, not even at reception.

👎 There was nobody at reception, and it smelled bad everywhere. People were smoking inside, and the thin blanket stank. The bathrooms were so dirty that most people probably haven’t used bathrooms like that before. The beds were uncomfortable, and I couldn’t sleep at all. Better to stay on the road!

A really nice, clean place, and it was easy to deal with the person in charge. The location is good, with a Lidl very close by. Just keep in mind there’s no kitchen. There is a microwave, a kettle, and a fridge in the TV room. I’d definitely recommend it! ✌🏼
