Mercure Fátima

Angelo and Komal at reception deserve a mention for the really good service. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the breakfast had an interesting serving setup. It’s in a great spot, facing the basílica área and right by the restaurants and souvenir stores. We’ll make this our hotel in Fatima from now on. My only suggestion for the manager is to clean the windows on the outside.

Breakfast was poorly organized. There was no water, salt, or pepper on the tables, and I finished eating before the salt and pepper ever arrived. The eggs were brought out already prepared after you ordered them, which wasn’t what I expected from a hotel in this category. We waited about 10 minutes just to be served, and the receptionists were also working as waitresses. Juggling both jobs seemed to affect the speed and quality of service. The receptionist and waiter didn’t seem very professional and had trouble communicating clearly. The stay was quite disappointing, especially for an Accor / Mercure hotel. The place has potential, but the service, organization, and staff training need serious improvement.

The restaurant is good, and dinner here is a must. Breakfast was delicious too, especially the bread, though I don’t know its name. I pointed it out in my photos. The room was spacious, clean, and cozy, and there are lots of souvenir shops nearby. This is the best international chain hotel around Fatima Basilica. A couple of things were awkward, though. There’s no porter or bellboy to help with luggage, so you have to drag your bags across a rough stone yard to the lobby entrance, and it’d be easy to damage a tire. For groups, the two small elevators only fit two people with their luggage each.

The staff were so kind and attentive, and the customer service was spot on. Portugal staff could teach other countries a thing or two about looking after guests. The rooms were sparkling clean, and breakfast was better than a restaurant meal. We’re a family of four with kids and travel a lot, but this was our best stay so far. We came to visit Fatima sanctuary, and the hotel is perfectly located for getting there. There’s free parking and direct access to the Fatima gift shop too. Thanks, Mercure Fatima. We’ll recommend it to anyone visiting this special place, and we’ll be back. ♥️
