Try to miss the busiest part of the day if you can. It’s a really special experience.

The paths nearby are lovely for walking, with routes through the countryside down to the sea, and Fenais da Luz is about 20 minutes away on foot. You’ll want a rental car, though, since there aren’t any decent shops within walking distance. There’s parking for it, plus a veranda overlooking all the greenery. We stayed for 8 days in June 2022. The place is attractive and set somewhere quiet and green, with furnishings and amenities that are both practical and thoughtfully designed. The kitchenette has a 4-burner cooktop, refrigerator, and washing machine, and there’s air conditioning/heating and good Wi-Fi. The host couple were friendly and dependable, and shared lots of insider tips about the islands. Thank you, Manuela & Hans
