Exe Wellington Hotel

The hotel was clean and good value, and breakfast was nice. The pizzeria was just average, though the 10% discount was a nice touch. The location is good, but the hotel isn’t right on the beach. The online photos are a little misleading, and the place feels tired, more like a nice three-star hotel than a four-star one. Reception staff weren’t very friendly when we arrived.

Very nice, but there’s no breakfast option for people with allergies.

If you’re driving, check in first. Your room key opens the private garage, which is a one-minute walk away. The hotel is right in the centre of Figueira da Foz, with welcoming staff, a spotless room and lots of breakfast choices. Based on our stay, we’d absolutely recommend it.

The buffet had a wide choice of fresh, tasty hot and cold food and drinks, and the dining room was tidy and clean. The hot dishes were lukewarm at best because the bain maries seemed set too low, which spoiled that part of the meal. We had breakfast included. Our room was fresh and immaculate, with a huge bed and a bathroom that was clean and well designed. Everything worked as it should, which is rare these days. There was hardly any storage apart from a hanging cupboard, with no drawers. Reception gave us a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine after I mentioned our wedding anniversary, a lovely touch. The whole place looked clean and neat, and reception was well staffed, friendly and helpful. Would we return? Absolutely, hopefully soon.
