Sweet Atlantic Hotel & Spa

The family room's two balconies gave us exceptional views, and it was quieter than we feared despite being right on the road and close to the beach. There was also a fair nearby that wasn't loud and would be great for families. The rooms are basic but extremely comfortable, and all the staff were incredible. We enjoyed the lovely spa, and I highly recommend a massage or facial with Elisabet. Just know it's completely underground, so it's calm but has no fresh air. The hotel says it's wheelchair accessible, but every room has a bath-shower rather than a walk-in, and the restaurant is up two stairs. The food there was good but very pricey. Cervejaria Marisqueira Sagres just down the road had fantastic food at great prices. Breakfast costs 12 euros per person and was decent, with pastries, cereal, eggs, bacon, mushrooms, pancakes, bread and toast, coffee, juice, and a small selection of fruit with yogurt. When we were there, the fruit was melon, kiwi, pineapple and grapes. We didn't appreciate being charged an extra 12 euros for taking some rolls back to our room once.

The room was spacious enough, and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast offered a good range and was better than I expected. The location was great, and the receptionist was very friendly.

There was a good view from our room, but you can't really hear the ocean. Leaving the window open at night brought in street noise, with people up at all hours. There was tea but no coffee. It still amazes me that a hotel on the beach doesn't provide or rent beach towels or umbrellas. I could buy an umbrella at a nearby shop, but that's awkward with a small suitcase.
