We booked this lovely little hotel for a large wedding party, and everyone was happy with their stay. The staff and management were incredibly welcoming and helpful. It’s well placed between the beach and casino, on a quiet road close to shops and excellent restaurants. The hotel has been tastefully updated, with an elegant lounge and well equipped bedrooms and bathrooms. Exceptional value for the service.

It was a short stay, but Figueira da Foz is a hidden gem and I'm sure I'll be back. The room was nice and reasonably priced, and being so close to the beach made it even better. A special mention to Carla at reception: her lovely smile and warm welcome make you feel at ease straight away. She's a real asset to the organisation.

The balcony gave us a lovely view over the city and the ocean, and our room was wonderful. The front desk staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Breakfast was nice, too.

The hotel is generally nice and close to the sea, though our room had no view. Breakfast was very basic, and there was only one staff member serving. It also feels out of step with the standard the hotel is aiming for to charge extra for bottled water and the coffee machine capsules in the rooms.

The staff at Universal Hotel worked hard to look after us and were so gracious. After two days in Porto and two in Coimbra in unusually hot weather, arriving there felt like heaven. The room was beautifully decorated, and the atmosphere was lovely and relaxed. The beach is pretty, with several more beaches along the coast a few miles' drive away. It was a welcome break before heading to Lisbon. I'd love to return.
