Casa do Papagaio Verde

The garden was beautiful, full of flowers and fruit, and the rooms were really nice. I especially liked the ones by the pool with their ocean view. Madeira at its best, with Funchal very close by.

I was there for six days and will definitely come back. The atmosphere is calm, relaxing and privileged, and the owners are so welcoming and sweet, with great customer service. Casa do Papagaio Verde has astonishing views and great rooms with good Wi-Fi speed. There’s a huge garden with different areas: a swimming pool, several wooden tables for breakfast or lunch while looking out at the ocean and mountains, and a vegetable garden with fresh local produce. I fell in love with the place as soon as I arrived.

I spent 11 days at Casa Do Papagaio Verde, and it was one of the nicest stays I’ve ever had. I’d love to come back. The team made it feel very safe, clean and welcoming. Every day the cleaning was perfect, and the helpful staff answered all my questions about the stay, including tours and the PCR test. After exploring the island, my favourite thing was relaxing by the pool in the beautiful garden. You can see the ocean from there, and the garden also has exotic tropical fruit and flowers. It was lovely to enjoy some of the best Portuguese wines with the owners or other guests. The beds were comfortable, and the quiet neighbourhood made for great sleep and a relaxing holiday. Breakfast on the terrace was gorgeous, especially with homemade jam made from fruit from the garden and that incredible ocean view. The owners’ hospitality and the beauty of Casa Do Papagaio Verde are hard to put into words. Thank you for an unforgettable holiday! :)

My husband and I loved it, though I can see it might not suit everyone. We enjoyed the clean, cosy rooms, good breakfast and friendly staff. We had dinner there once too, and it was really tasty, with fresh vegetables from the garden. It’s away from the rigid hotel and tourism atmosphere, up on a hill with an amazing view, but still not far from the beach or downtown. The levadas are 20 minutes away and it’s five minutes by car. They have cats and dogs that are always around to be petted, so it’s not for people with allergies. Last but not least, we loved Ana Maria, the manager. She’s a stunning, lovely, warm and helpful lady. Thank you for everything, and all the best from München.
