Vanessa, our host, was warm, helpful, quick to respond and full of practical suggestions. We spent two fantastic weeks in this magical place, a wonderful oasis in the middle of Funchal. The apartment was comfortable and had everything we needed. We could cook dinner in the well-equipped kitchen and eat it on our own terrace, or choose from the many places to eat within walking distance. Thank you for making our magical stay in Madeira even better!

The apartment itself was great, but several things handled by 'An Island Apart' left us disappointed. We got the welcome message and instructions only a couple of hours after midday, once we had already settled in. The airport transfer was late too. Our flight was delayed, and by then it was already 1-2am, so waiting even longer was unpleasant. There was also a breakfast booking made for a date when breakfast wasn’t available. We contacted the agency, but they wouldn’t fix it. They said they had “no responsibility” or connection to the mistake, even though the breakfast phone number linked directly to the agency. The amount was small, but their strong defensive response felt out of proportion. We were questioned from every direction in a condescending way. We’d planned to use their other services and activities, but this put us off. It left us feeling we wouldn’t be treated fairly if another problem came up.

The 'industrial' appartement was just perfect, and the owner was so kind and helpful. It’s such a beautiful place, with everything you need. We’re really glad we booked here, it couldn’t have worked out better for our stay in Funchal.
