We mostly got around on foot, though the bus stop on the main road was handy and we also took the shuttle into Funchal. Forum shopping centre was an easy walk, with a supermarket, restaurants and bakeries nearby. The hotel was quiet, well located and had lovely sea views. Staff at reception were friendly and helpful, and housekeeping made the bed and replaced the towels each day. Breakfast had a really good range of choices. We tried the indoor pool once, but it was a bit cold, and the sauna was out of order. Access through the hotel gate to the lido and coastal walk was great. It was our first visit to Madeira, and we'd definitely stay here again.

The staff experience wasn't consistent, and our arrival left a bad first impression. Our shuttle dropped us up the slope instead of at the hotel entrance, but the woman at the door seemed not to care or offer any help, either outside or inside. The location is great, though the building looks very tired, and there's construction going on next door.

The ocean view from our room was fantastic, and the breakfasts were excellent. Staff were very friendly, and the hotel is right by the municipal beach. There's a public transport stop, shopping centre and car rental offices nearby. Parking spaces are limited, but for what you get, the price is excellent.

The location was brilliant, with buses and taxis making it easy to get around, and the local supermarket was an easy walk. The hotel looks very tired and needs an upgrade. The lido below was noisy, though it didn't bother us, and there aren't any beaches nearby. We took four tiny bottles of water from the minibar and were charged €17!
