Breakfast is very good, and when the weather allows, you can eat outside while looking out over the city. The property has lovely views across Funchal and the service was good. Rooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean, and most rooms are up to a high standard. Room number 5 was the exception for us, with no ventilation or air conditioning, which took away from an otherwise five-star stay.

The people here were so kind and thoughtful. When we had to miss breakfast for an early activity, they left bread, croissants, yoghurt and fruit in our room. The regular breakfast was a treat too, with fresh orange juice, bread, corn flakes, yoghurt, coffee, fruit and eggs made to order. We also appreciated being able to use the kitchen and fridge to prepare or store food. Our room was large and lovely, service was perfect, and there were fresh water bottles each day and cookies on arrival. The B&B is close to Funchal and easy for Bolt drivers to reach. There aren't many shops or restaurants nearby, though, and the road is very steep for walking, so a car or public transport is useful. The bus stop is at the end of the road.

The hosts made us feel welcome, and the garden was beautiful, with great views over Funchal. The Quinta is also well placed for activities higher in the mountains, including Pico do Ariero hikes and canyoning.

The terrace overlooking the green gardens and Funchal bay was lovely for breakfast or an evening sit. The villa renovation is excellent, and the furnishings and fittings are tastefully done. It's a perfect looking property with a wonderful view. The bus stop is close to the main gate, and public transport into the centre works very well. A very good choice if you're looking for privacy, peace and a comfortable rest.
