The rooms and their condition were acceptable, but the owner should let someone else manage the place. I found him lacking in basic respect for guests’ privacy and consideration for others. The staff were rude and left a bad impression. During my stay I felt neglected and even harassed. I can’t recommend staying here. A kind word or a smile, which were often missing, could have made up for the minor shortcomings.

My wife and I were attacked by the hotel dog, and it made the stay feel unsafe. The dog was free to roam the gardens and guest areas. It was muzzled on the night it jumped up at me, claws on my chest, but we’d seen it without a muzzle on earlier occasions. It was terrifying. The dog also attacked the owner who works at the hotel. Luckily, only my shirt was ripped. The manager was rude and completely uninterested in doing anything about it, which made the rest of our stay very uncomfortable. The room was okay and breakfast average, but I’d think twice before booking here.

We liked the calm atmosphere and spent a lot of time out exploring the island. The free street parking was useful since we had a car. Breakfast was the same each day, though I think you could choose different items. The staff were lovely, didn’t disturb us, and had everything ready on time. I’d recommend it if you want to get to know the island and get away from busy, crowded places.

The staff were kind and helpful, the room was spacious enough, and the bed was very comfortable. We liked having a mini fridge, and the breakfast room was cozy. The location also gave us some quiet. Renting a car is the best option for this accommodation, though you can get there by public transport. Parking can be a challenge. Breakfast was quite good for a two-star place, but could offer more variety and more local things, like Madeiran bananas or bread.
