We were really taken with the rooms: the suites are huge, with modern bathrooms and great amenities. The shower pressure was the best I've had in years, and the AC felt up to Middle East or Asia standards, which I haven't found in Europe before. Small thoughtful touches and chocolates at turndown were lovely. The pool looks out over the ocean, but it's on the small side. The spa is at the sister hotel, which felt more mass market and less boutique. Reid’s palace next door is lovely for a sunset drink on the terrace, though I preferred the suites Cliff bay rooms, so I'd stay here and walk over for an aperitif. I'm pretty fussy when I travel, and for once I felt more comfortable here than in my own home and bed. We've already told friends about it and will definitely come back. Rosanna was especially welcoming and kind when she checked us in. This was one of our favourite stays after travelling all over Europe.

The team really seemed to love their work, and they were thoughtful with guests. I was struck by how carefully every detail had been handled, and I'd absolutely stay again. The hotel and setting were stunning, and I was so happy with it I literally cried. The restaurants served delicious food with a good variety. I had the best massage I've ever had at the relaxing spa, and the fitness rooms were roomy and well maintained. One of the best places in Funchal.

The rooms at Les Suites are lovely and nicely furnished, and the restaurants are good too. There are several pools, some heated, and you can also use the facilities at the Porto Bay Hotel. A fabulous hotel all round.

Breakfast was just right every morning, and the spa was great. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. We were there for our honeymoon and got upgraded to the master suite, which was amazing: immaculate, with thoughtful little touches, a wonderfully comfortable bed and a great shower. The centre of Funchal is a bit of a walk, though there's a bus stop right outside if you don't feel like walking. There are also plenty of places to eat nearby and hire cars for getting around the island. We couldn't fault Les Suites and loved every minute. The room was perfect.

We had a wonderful stay from 1st to 7th June and were amazed by the resort. The grounds are lovely and kept in great shape, and guests can use the Cliff Bay Hotel facilities too, including its Lido, pools and loungers. Les Suites' own infinity pool and sun loungers are for its guests, with plenty of places to sit and a nice jacuzzi. There's also a well-equipped gym and Pilates room. Check-in was smooth and professional, with a welcome drink. Someone showed us around the room and explained everything, including the lift in our duplex. It was very clean, had lots of towels, and the minibar soft drinks were included. We had two shower rooms and two balconies. Breakfast at Avista was included for Les Suites guests. It was superb, with lots of choices as well as a menu, handmade coffees, pressed juices, water and even sparkling wine. There was plenty of seating, and it was always quiet and calm. Cliff Bay guests can pay to have breakfast at Avista, and walk-ins are also offered. The Les Suites team couldn't do enough for us. Thank you for an excellent stay!
