Hotel Windsor

That packed breakfast was the poorest experience I’ve ever had. I’d paid €100 for a room with breakfast included and was leaving early, so they prepared it ahead of time: a kids juice, one dry cheese toast and an apple. I returned it to the hotel, but they didn’t offer me anything else. It wasn’t worth it, and I regret not sleeping at the airport.

The rooftop swimming pool, with fantastic views of Funchal, was a real bonus for our futsal tournament. Staff were friendly overall, though one person could have been less confrontational when we arrived. Rooms are basic, but cleaning was excellent; there’s a fridge and good A/C. Satellite channels were decent. The security safe in the room is quite small and costs €5. WiFi was free but slow, with no upgrade option. Breakfast had a limited selection, though everything was edible and the coffee was decent. Great location for our tournament, and I’d give it 4* overall.

Breakfast was a little disappointing: the hot dishes were really oily, and there weren’t any protein containing foods. Still, the location and price worked well, and the rooms and pool were nice enough to make the place worthwhile. The overall stay was good, with clean rooms and staff who were mostly friendly.

The rooms were basic, but they did the job since I wasn’t spending much time at the hotel. The staff were amazing, really friendly and helpful, and being right in the centre made it easy to get everywhere. I had a rental car and could park at the hotel for a fee, which made coming and going easy without worrying about street parking. Thanks for a great stay!
