Alex and his family were perfect hosts, and I loved every moment with them. One of the best places on the Camino Portuguese.

Casa Sao Caetano was a wonderful place to stop on my Portuguese Way walk. The host family were so kind, and the food was delicious. I loved the beautiful old house and how well it’s been maintained. Thanks again for having me. I hope to come back someday.

We paid 70 euros, and the stay was far below par. After showing us the room and bathroom, the hostess disappeared for three hours without offering us anything to eat or drink. Three dogs were loose in the garden, and we had no idea whether they were safe to approach. The hostess seemed very uninterested. Dinner was included in what we paid for, but it was disappointing: a tasteless soup, penne with only the odd mushroom or corn kernel, and a shriveled kiwi for dessert. Breakfast was coffee, stale sourdough bread and butter. Never again.

The hosts made us feel like family, and we enjoyed their homemade dinner with everyone. It's not luxurious, but we felt really comfortable, and the beds were very comfortable too. A very welcoming hostel. I'd gladly stay again.
