Lagos Central Hostel

The room was filthy: sticky, oily floors, stained sheets that looked like they had faeces on them, and a foul smell that made me feel sick as soon as I walked in. This was the dirtiest and most disgusting place I’ve stayed in. The online photos were completely misleading and nothing like the room we got. I complained and checked out that same day. They’ve ignored all my refund emails, while the staff were rude and unprofessional. There seemed to be no standards for cleanliness or customer care. I can’t reply to your last message, so I’m posting this here. You can respond to my review, but you still haven’t answered my emails. It was absolutely the right hotel. Instead of trying to make me look dishonest, please do the right thing: reply to my emails, issue my refund, and stop taking guests’ money without providing what was promised.

It’s about a 15-minute walk to the Marina, or allow 20 minutes for the pedestrian drawbridge. Apart from an excursion, that’s probably the furthest you’ll want to go on foot. The location is central but quiet, and the service is top-notch. Breakfast was a perfect start to the day. A heads up if you’re in the room at the top of the building, left of the stairs: the balcony view is worth it, but watch your head under the sloping roof.

The staff were ready to help with what we needed, and we really appreciated that. Residence Lagos itself and the rooms are beautiful and comfortable, with a very good breakfast in a pleasant common area. We had more than an excellent experience, and I’d definitely recommend staying here. 🙂

We arrived to a lovely bottle of verde and local oranges in the room. The facility is beautiful, with an outdoor terrace for breakfast, and the on-site staff serve freshly squeezed orange juice. It’s in old-town Lagos, close to the picturesque beaches. Our flight was delayed, but they arranged a last-minute check-in at 2am. Airport service had been terrible and the calls kept dropping, yet the staff called back four times until we could clearly explain the delay and need to check in late. Great service.
