We saw cockroaches on our very first night. The next morning, my partner and I woke with more than 20 itchy bites across our bodies. We found multiple adult bed bugs full of blood, nymphs, and blood stains on the sheets. We showed the live insects, bites, and stains to management right away, but they ignored our complaint and showed no empathy. Later, they falsely accused us of improper behavior, which was completely made up. We lost a full day of our trip washing, disinfecting, and heat-treating all our belongings so we wouldn't bring pests home. We have photos and videos as proof. The hygiene was unacceptable and dangerous, and this is a public health concern, not just a bad experience. We've never had an issue with any Booking.com reservation before. We demanded a full refund, but the owners have refused so far. Booking and other platforms should immediately delist this property. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

After one night here, I was covered in bed bug bites. I arrived from my home in Germany without this issue, but the owner still defended herself and suggested they might have come from my own bed or the plane. She first said she'd refund the whole stay, then told booking.com she hadn't agreed to any refund. The shared bathroom was very dirty and full of hair, and the room felt damp and moist. I wouldn't recommend this place or stay here again.

Suzanne was kind and very helpful, and speaks English and Spanish. Everything was clean, the rooms were nice, and the kitchen was well equipped. It's tucked at the end of a little street, so it's really quiet. I actually preferred staying here to being right in the centre of Lagos. The price is much better than most places in Portugal, so I'd highly recommend it. It's bicycle friendly too, with secure storage inside the building.

The booking site's 8 out of 10 rating seemed overrated and misleading. The building is old, my room smelled of cigarettes, and it was freezing because there was no heater. The shared bathroom wasn't cleaned daily, and one bathroom had to serve four or five other groups. The kitchen was tiny and filthy. I think an owner lives downstairs. The next day an older woman, whom I assume was an owner, came upstairs while I was in the kitchen, opened my room door, and looked around inside. I told her it was my room. I understood her to say that she was the owner and I was obligated to show the room in Portugal. I was left puzzled and quite upset.
