Quinta da Salada

The setting is lovely, with birdsong, flower and orange tree scents, and outstanding views. The wine, cheese, and breakfast were delicious too. Our room was exceptionally clean and well stocked, and the service was perfect: friendly and responsive while still giving us privacy. It would be foolish not to stay here. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

The views from the terrace and pool over the vineyards are stunning, and the grounds are gorgeous. Inside, the room was comfortable, clean, and beautifully decorated, with impressive attention to detail. The hosts were extremely friendly, and the owners and their son took time to chat and suggest nice places nearby. You can tell they love what they do, and it shows in the service. Breakfast was better than most 5 star hotel breakfasts, and very Instagramable ;). Their wine is delicious too. We highly recommend it and hope to come back one day.

There’s no dinner service here, just small bites and snacks from 3 to 6pm. There are plenty of restaurants in town, and the staff can recommend one and perhaps book you a table. We didn’t have a car, but staff were always ready to order a taxi. Get the numbers for the drivers, who are happy to pick you up and drop you off. The six rooms are beautifully designed, and the grounds have little gardens, reading corners, and plenty of places to relax or recharge. The small pool and deck chairs have amazing views over the vineyard hills. We arrived before check-in at 3pm, but they seated us in the cool, cozy living room, brought us some of their wine, and we had time to explore the grounds. Breakfast on the terrace was delicious, with a good variety of meats, cheese, pastries, and yoghurt. It’s buffet style, and some wasps visit, but you can also order fresh hot eggs. The service was exceptional.

We loved the many places around the property where you can relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the views. Quinta da Salada was the highlight of our Portugal trip. It’s a small working vineyard, and the owners add a personal touch. We’ll definitely recommend it and return.
