Quinta Do Atoleiro

We loved Portugal and will definitely come back someday. Rui made us feel at home and was an excellent host. The town was amazing, and seeing the festa in person was so cool. We spent the evening on the patio of our suite under the stairs, drinking very affordable 20 year old Port. At checkout Rui had coffee with us and chatted about the area and where we were headed. What an unreal place to stop in the north of Portugal.

The cabins were comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed for a peaceful stay. There’s parking right outside each one, which made day to day life much easier. The grounds are beautiful and very well cared for, and the pool is fantastic for relaxing in the quiet surroundings. Sr. Rui Óscar and his family welcomed me warmly. They were kind and attentive, and the atmosphere felt like a real family home from the first minute. You can see the care they put into every detail. A wonderful, unforgettable experience. I’d definitely return, and recommend it to anyone looking for a few restful days in nature with genuine hospitality and everything needed for a great stay.

Mr. Rui and his family told us, “You’re not just my guests anymore, you’re my friends.” That says a lot about how warm and hospitable our welcome was. The small pool was spotless and well cared for, just right for a refreshing dip. We only stayed one night during our road trip, but the owners made us feel very welcome with some homemade wine. When they realized we’d been out all day and hadn’t eaten much, they shared their dinner with us by the pool. They were so friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and really comfortable. We highly recommend staying here if you’re travelling through the Douro Valley. 😊
