After spending the day on nearby trails, I relaxed in the outdoor jacuzzi and watched the sunset. The room was large and comfortable, with a balcony overlooking the river and city. Vila Galé Douro is an easy short walk from Régua center and the train station. Breakfast had plenty of choice and was good quality, and the à la carte dinner menu also offered variety. The staff were consistently friendly and attentive, which really added to my stay.

We could easily walk into town from this well located hotel. Our room was clean and spacious, with a good river view, though it didn’t have modern charging connections such as USB ports. One heads-up: you need a swim cap for the spa pool. I don’t usually pack one, so I had to buy one there. Lol, it seems like a scam.

The views from the rooms are stunning, and the indoor pool is heated and looks out over the same scenery. Rooms are clean, spacious, and modern, and there’s plenty of free parking around the hotel. It’s a beautiful area, too. Breakfast was simple and basic.

The nice view and friendly staff couldn’t make up for the rest. There was mold around the windows and on the ceiling, and the shower was almost impossible to adjust without making the water scalding. There wasn’t an iron in the room, and they never came to refresh the water or room except when we happened to be inside. I’d stay somewhere else if I come to Douro again.

The indoor pool was warm, and it was an easy walk into town and the restaurants. Our third-floor room had a large balcony and great river views, though the other rooms didn’t look as nice. The shower water was barely warm.
