Alfama's Nest

I didn’t enjoy this stay at all. The internet was so bad I had to use my 4G the whole time, and the shower water was only warm enough for one person before it turned colder. The bed and mattress were very old and uncomfortable, the sheet had stains, and the towels were very used and not very clean. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Bugs everywhere, including cockroaches, plus cold water and a strong sewage smell. The stairs up to the place felt dangerous. After seeing bugs in the shower and kitchen, I stopped using both. I left and spent the last of our three nights sleeping at the airport. When I asked for a refund, they wouldn’t give me anything, not even a small price reduction. The reply was very unfriendly. You pay and then either live with cockroaches running around or leave. Never again.

No. 29 was a lovely little apartment in Alfama. It was spotless, quiet, and well equipped, with an authentic Lisbon feel.

The windows looked out over the mouth of the Tagus River, and the apartment sits in a lovely old Lisbon neighborhood. We found it incredibly cozy and very well located. Everything’s close enough to walk to, and during our four days there we didn’t use the car once. The washing machine was perhaps a little noisy. The decor has a vintage feel that took us straight back to the early seasons of "Cuéntame." Lisbon has so much to see. Highly recommended.
