Walking through the corridors and finding beautiful art in the rooms made the stay feel special. Macam Hotel is also a museum, so exploring the collection was part of the experience. I loved how unusual and memorable that felt. My room was modern and comfortable, with a nice mix of style and coziness. I absolutely loved staying here in Lisbon. Macam Hotel is a great choice if you want a luxurious visit that feels inspiring too.

The breakfast was included and was high quality, and hotel guests also got free museum tickets. I found the collection well balanced, with beautiful pieces that gave me plenty to think about. I liked that the whole project, from the owner to the architecture firm and staff, is Portuguese. Too many new hotels in Portugal, in my view, have been built by international chains with foreign investor money to keep up with the recent rise in tourism. The hotel opened in summer 2025, just a few months ago, inside Lisbon’s newest modern art museum. The museum is the personal collection of Portugal’s most eminent art collector. The building had been a palazzo, then a school, before being carefully redesigned as a hotel and museum. I wasn’t sure what staying in a museum would be like, but the design was gorgeous and the hotel still felt private. Service was impeccable. The staff were friendly and very efficient, some of the best I’ve experienced in Portugal.

Francisco went above and beyond to sort out a small booking mix-up caused by the platform, NOT the hotel. The staff were so welcoming and kind. I can’t wait to come back. The spotless rooms had quality linens and brand-new bathrooms. There’s a lovely library with a view of the 25 de Abril Bridge, plus beautiful art throughout the hotel since it’s connected to an art museum. I loved the paradise-like garden courtyard too. This hotel is a true hidden gem and my favorite place to stay in Lisbon!

We spent six nights here and around €2,000, and came away saying this was our best hotel experience so far. We’ve traveled all over the world and stayed at many five-star hotels. This one is completely new, modern, and impeccably clean, with every detail beautifully finished and a level of luxury that’s hard to put into words. Art is displayed throughout. There’s also a stunning garden, an on-site museum, elegant seating areas, an impressive library, and a lovely bar. There’s so much to look at that we kept discovering things. Breakfast was sublime. Whatever you ask for is brought to the table with care and precision. The service was the real standout, with wonderful hospitality, communication, attentiveness, and genuine care from the staff. It was unforgettable. They even offered us an upgrade, which we declined because it felt like too much. The luxury was almost overwhelming, and we felt genuinely humbled by the offer. A special thank you to Rafael, who was always enthusiastic and took his role seriously. He’ll undoubtedly go far. Vera, the manager, listened to feedback, paid attention to every detail and customer wish, and thought along with us to find solutions. Catharina was incredibly kind and customer-focused, and made us feel warmly welcome from our first contact on arrival. Raquel (the lady) in the restaurant paid close attention to what we wanted and did everything she could to serve the most delicious dishes, truly sublime. Claudia served breakfast professionally, with a friendly and modest manner and a strong focus on service. Marcus (the young man) was excellent and clearly doing his utmost. And Elmer in the restaurant was an outstanding communicator. He should be interacting with guests all day. His communication makes everyone feel special, and he’s so professional and pleasant. If you want to know what hospitality means, look at Elmer. He’s a gem. There were many more staff members we could mention. At times, it felt as if everyone were our personal assistant. Roomservice was perfect, including delicious pizza. Housekeeping came multiple times a day, coffee and tea were constantly replenished, and the towels, bathrobes, bed, bedding, kettle, and all the other equipment were completely new. Everything felt brand new, spotless, and perfectly maintained. All in all, it was a perfect stay, and we’ll certainly be back very soon. Thank you for everything! We hope many more people discover and enjoy this hidden gem. One thing did detract from the stay. The dinner was genuinely excellent, Michelin-star quality, and they make every meal wish come true. But after two evenings we chose not to eat there again because of how unprofessional the dinner staff were on January 19th and 21st. We were the only guests, and it seemed they were just waiting out their shift, laughing loudly, chatting among themselves, and watching TikTok videos. The noise from the videos on their phones was very noticeable and distracting, and inappropriate for a five-star dining room. If staff want to socialize, they should do so discreetly or in the kitchen, not in front of guests. It felt more like a classroom than fine dining. Maybe it would have been different with a full restaurant, but at several points the atmosphere was so spoiled that we felt like leaving our food and walking out. Despite the food being a 10/10, we ate elsewhere for the remaining evenings because the atmosphere took away from the experience.

Just wandering around was a blast, from discovering the library and bar to exploring the grounds. It’s a wonderful hotel and museum together, with a great collection. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. This will be our go-to place whenever we visit the city.
