The bathroom is on the small side, but the service is very friendly and the price felt very good for the quality. There’s a kitchen guests can use, with a supermarket and bakery close by. It’s in a quiet but central neighborhood, with plenty of parking in front of the hotel. Belém’s main sights are nearby.

Casa Amarela is somewhere we’d happily come back to. The outdoor space was a dream, and we had coffee out there every day. The kitchen and lounge are lovely too, especially if you want to save money by making your own meals. The home and rooms are beautiful, and transit is practically right outside: just walk out and turn left. Belém Tower is an easy stroll down the hill, a great spot for sunset.

We were a family of four and stayed one night. The place was clean and nice, and the location was great. It was Portugal Day, so most restaurants were closed, but luckily there was a very nice kitchen and dining area where we baked pizza and cooked noodles. Parking was free too. The WiFi was weak in our room. That was true at every hotel during our two week trip in Spain and Portugal, so I can’t really complain. Highly recommend.

The staff, who felt like family, welcomed me so warmly that I felt at home right away. They also shared great tips for special local places worth seeing. Casa Amarela really does feel like a home away from home. It’s in Belém, a tourist hotspot with so many monuments and museums within walking distance. I also biked along the river and passed lots of beautiful monuments. For less than half the price of other suitable places in the neighborhood, I got a super clean room in a cozy house, a very comfortable bed, and a private bathroom. What more could you ask for?
