Lisboa Bungalows

A bus stop just 200 metres from the site made getting into Lisbon easy, and the location was a real plus. The reception staff were friendly, the pitches were a good size, and the showers had excellent hot water. The place is looking a bit tired, though. The facilities are quite exposed to the weather and the whole site could use general maintenance. There was some road noise, but the rain drowned it out. It felt much like other Portuguese campsites we’ve stayed at. This time of year must be hard for keeping a large site in shape, especially with the storms that have been coming through.

We were pleasantly surprised by this campsite after seeing some poor reviews, and really liked our stay in the motorhome. The pitches are level concrete, set among woodland, and the showers and toilets were clean. The bus made it easy to get into central Lisbon. It’s expensive, but campsites near major cities seem to be that way. We’d definitely stay again.

Getting into Lisbon was easy for us. We took an Uber because it was quicker, though there’s a bus stop outside the campsite and you have to change buses to reach the city. The site’s close to Lisbon, which was great, and there’s a nice cafe by the pool where we could sit. Our pitch was lovely and large, with tall tree canopies that work well for a motorhome. The toilet blocks look a little worn but were clean. Laundry was good too: the machines had washing powder loaded, though payment was card only. The pool area was pleasant, but there were no usable sunbeds. The ones there were broken and unsafe, which was disappointing. We only ate at the restaurant once because we didn’t enjoy the meal. Visiting in September, we thought it was a little overpriced, but there isn’t anything else in the area.

We brought our own campervan, so I can’t comment on the rooms. Most pitches are spacious, level concrete spots among the trees, which makes the site really pretty. Everything was very clean, and the showers had plenty of hot water. You can use the washing machines and dryers for 5 euro per wash. With our motorbike, getting to central Lisbon took about five minutes and was no trouble. It’s a lovely ride. The site costs 35 euro a night, so it’s quite expensive, though it is a nice place. The concerts nearby were the downside. There was one both nights we stayed, with loud, thumping music that went on until 11pm. Still, I’d come back if we wanted to spend time in Lisbon.
