Mira Tejo

I was really glad I'd booked a room at miratejo after a hard first day of my Camino. I'm a pilgrim walking to Santiago de Compostela, and stopped there last week because Vila de Franka was too far to reach on day one. It felt a little expensive for a pilgrim, but I was so happy to have found the place. There's a Lidl, a pharmacy and even a fast food place nearby, or you can eat at the miratejo restaurant, though I didn't. For anyone walking the Camino along the Tejo river on the wooden bridges, finding a way across the big road is tricky. Don't trust Google maps on this one, but there is an underpass. Keep walking along the wooden bridge until Pontão da BP, turn left and follow the path under the road. You'll need to go up a small hill and cross a bridge. Keep going until you can't continue straight because of another road with lots of cars. Turn left there and follow the street to Mira tejo. A friendly fisherman showed me that way out after I'd tried three other exits from the wooden bridge and was getting desperate because they were all locked. The next day, just walk back to the river and continue your Camino. It's beautiful! Bom caminho!
