Apartamentos Vale Da Varzea

The owner and manager, Sr João Ferreira, was so friendly and available whenever we needed him. We’d love to return. There’s private parking right at the entrance to town, supermarkets close by, and Praia da Areia Branca is about a 10-minute walk away. Lourinhã is 3km away, with lots of other beaches to choose from too. We rented the self-contained studio right in front of the pool, a little apart from the other accommodation. It has a terrace with chairs beside it, and a porch out front that opens directly onto the pool. It was a wonderful, peaceful place. The pool isn’t very big, but it does the job, and it was clean and in very good condition. The space is practical and cozy, without much in the way of luxuries. There’s no internet, and the TV has little beyond the four Portuguese channels. The kitchenette is great for quick meals, though I think one more power outlet would help, and adding an extractor fan would be useful in a studio. For storage, a coat rack and a shelf in the bathroom would make things more practical.

Sr. João is attentive and helpful. The grounds are nicely kept, and you can see the care in the little details. There are several small houses, with areas that give each guest a bit of privacy. Inside, it’s pleasant, and having a kitchen is great if you don’t want to go out to eat. The only small drawback is the soundproofing. It’s beside the road, so there’s some traffic during the day, and it’s near a church with bells. In the bigger picture, that didn’t have much impact. I recommend it.

It’s a very peaceful place, and the accommodation has enough room for a family of adults and two children. Sr. João is attentive without hovering, just how I like it, and makes guests feel at ease. There’s a nice pool and a pleasant barbecue area. I highly recommend staying here and will be back.

The beach, with good waves, is about a 10-minute walk away, with several places nearby for lunch or dinner. The town has lots of surf schools. A peaceful, relaxing spot!
