HI Areia Branca - Pousada de Juventude

Carla was exceptionally helpful and friendly, and the staff really went out of their way to make us feel welcome and looked after 🙏 The room was clean and tidy, with everything we needed. It was simple but comfortable and excellent value. We stayed here for a race and were pleasantly surprised by the view and location. I highly recommend this hostel and will definitely return.

The location is excellent, and the rooms are basic but clean and functional. Apart from the incident below, the place was fairly pleasant and the staff were friendly and helpful. If you want to sleep, don’t take room 001. It’s right beside reception, separated by a thin door. There was loud talking, slamming doors, and the doorbell until after midnight, then again from 6:30 or 7am. At 07.45, staff spent 15 minutes trying different doorbell tones. They seemed not to care. It was extremely annoying and inconsiderate.

It’s really close to the beach, and falling asleep to the sound of the waves is great. The place is clean, and the staff are nice and helpful. It’s a fairly old hostel, which you can see from all the drawings and graffiti on the undersides of the bunk beds. Breakfast was more minimal than we expected, but it had what was needed and was okay. The showers aren’t the best, but they work.

The location is really good and the staff are kind. I’d go back anytime.
