The Far End Surf House

I spent a week glamping and that was my favorite part. The blankets were warm, the air was fresh, and everything felt like a really high quality stay. The house and facilities were very clean, and I enjoyed the pool and hot tub. They also rent surfboards and wetsuits, and you can book a massage. The food was so good every day, healthy, varied, and better than a five star hotel, with good coffee too. Artti and the team are genuinely lovely and make great food. We got there by Uber with no trouble, though I’d recommend having a car for reaching the beaches. There are loads of beaches for surfing or relaxing, plus beach bars and burger places. About 200 metres from the house there’s a nice local Portuguese restaurant, called Carlos something. I’d have stayed longer, but the house was fully booked for the coming weeks. I’ll be back. It was such a good, restful surf stay :)

The house has a lovely big garden, with lots of spots to relax or do yoga, plus a cozy shared backyard where everyone eats together. The food was the best, with plenty of choices on the table and everything delicious and nicely presented. We were lucky to have what was basically a private beach for surfing. The beaches are huuuuge and sandy, and our coach was experienced and helpful. Artti was a friendly, easygoing, and helpful host. I recommend it!

I felt right at home at the surf house. Artti and Isabella were incredibly welcoming and kind, and I couldn’t have asked for better hosts. It’s about 10 minutes from the beach, and they helped arrange rides to and from surf lessons, even offering day trips to nearby places. The breakfasts and dinners were all so well made. They left me feeling happy, grounded, and full.

I ended up extending my stay because I loved the place so much. I’d originally booked a week of surfing after looking for somewhere relaxing without a party atmosphere, and The Far End Surf House was even better than I expected. There’s plenty of room to take some quiet time in a hammock, or spend time with the other guests. The shared breakfasts and dinners were delicious and a lovely way to meet people. It felt like a home away from home, and I honestly didn’t want to leave. The surf lessons were great, and the beaches are quiet since the house is outside a particularly touristy area. If you want to explore during the day, you can reach plenty of sights by über, including peniche, baleal, Berlenga islands, obidos, and Ericeira.
