Hotel Praia do Burgau - Turismo de Natureza

I didn’t stay at the hotel myself, since a friend was the one staying there, but I can speak to the pool prices, which felt like a total rip-off. The owner seemed very friendly and let my friend invite our travel companions for a day by the pool, but didn’t mention the €10 entrance fee per person for our group of 11. They also charged €10 for a portion of “Home made” potato fries that had only 8-10 pieces. Six portions came to €60. Those prices are outrageous. I can’t see how the owner expects to keep customers or get positive recommendations with costs that inflated. We’d have been more likely to recommend the hotel if its prices were more reasonable and “normal”. Stay away!

The biggest issue for us was getting around. Weekend transport is terrible, so if you have little time in Lagos and no rental car, this place may not work well. Taxis are hard to arrange and cost about 20 euros each way to Lagos. The room was clean and beach access was good, though the beach itself seemed average compared with others. For the price, the room felt basic. The tub was especially difficult and unsafe: it was high and slippery, with no grab bar, and someone 1.50 meters tall struggled to get in and out. The door meant to stop water leaking didn't work, so the floor got wet and could be a fall hazard unless you put down a towel. Staff were generally fine, but sometimes seemed annoyed by basic requests and didn't make much effort to help us feel at home. We were told staff would be there at all hours, yet when we arrived at 12:15am and rang several times, nobody answered. Other guests called the listed on-call numbers and helped us get in. The hotel addressed it the next day, which we appreciated. Breakfast was basic but enough.

The room was noisy from nearby bars until midnight, and we had no view from the lower floor. The air conditioning was very loud and pointed straight at the bed, though luckily it wasn't hot enough for us to use it. Breakfast was basic, and there seemed to be no restaurant unless you were boarding or a special friend of the manager. The beach is about a 10-minute walk away. Staff seemed friendly and helpful with tours and local attractions, but bear in mind their share of tour payments has to be paid in cash.

The rooms were spacious, spotless, and decorated in nice marine colors, with a partial ocean view. Staff were friendly and very helpful, and the hotel is close to the beach. There’s a large parking lot right beside it, which was convenient and affordable. I’d happily recommend it.
