Orbitur Valverde

The restaurant was the highlight for me, with great food and friendly staff. I’d come back to eat there, but I wouldn’t stay here again in its current state. It was overpriced for what it offered. The helpful staff, pool and restaurant kept this from being a two-star review, which felt a little too harsh. The site and staff were fine, with good facilities to keep young children occupied for a long weekend. But although the booking described a two-bedroom “bungalow,” what we got was a very small static caravan. The fridge kept overheating, so I had to pull it out from beneath the work counter. There weren’t many sockets, so charging devices took planning. The shower worked, but was extremely run down and needed an overhaul. The mirror also needed replacing. Some windows had small gaps when shut, and others were tricky to close.

There’s a bar serving food on site, and the pool was very clean. It’s a clean, friendly campsite. The pitches are quite level, and it looks like they’re being upgraded. I’d definitely recommend it.

Everyone working there, from the groundsmen and cleaners to the bar and shop staff, was incredibly lovely and friendly. The site is small, with a well-kept pool, a mini market, a bar with very reasonably priced drinks, and a restaurant serving delicious food at reasonable prices. We stayed for two weeks in one of Eurocamp’s mobile homes. There were no Eurocamp reps on site, and the site staff managed the accommodation and cleaned it immaculately. At reception, Lourdes, Adriele and Sergio greeted us, checked us in and went above and beyond to sort out our complicated reservation. They were patient and always smiling. Lourdes, Adriele and Sergio remembered my name from our first encounter, which made me feel valued instead of like just another holidaymaker. It’s perfectly placed for sightseeing by foot, car or the local bus that stops outside. We’d planned to visit Italy next year, but Orbitur Valverde was such a lovely finale to a truly fabulous road trip around Portugal that we’ve postponed la Dolce Vita and decided to return to explore Portugal again. My partner and I stayed in a tent. The showers were burning hot, which was a really nice surprise after cold showers at all the other camps.
