Porto Velho Boutique Lodge

The people were lovely, and Luis🫶 helped us whenever we needed anything. It has a really cute atmosphere and was clean too. Probably the best hostel you'll find in Pico. I'd definitely recommend it to everyone!

The shared kitchen was tucked away and poorly signposted, and the tables were always dirty. Cleaning could be better too: the top-floor toilets had neither hand towels nor toilet paper. The rooms, especially the dorms, could use a better hand soap setup. The staff were kind, but Madalena gets busy and loud at night despite being a small town. This place is right in the middle of the activity, so it's not a good choice if you want a quiet night.

The rooms were well equipped and the beds were comfortable, and the staff were very accommodating. They let us check in early, did an excellent job with laundry, and gave us great advice for exploring the island. It's right in downtown Madelena, which is a great location, though some nearby popular spots got very noisy on the weekend. My only complaint is that the rooms could use more soundproofing from the street. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

I’ve been here for a week, and in the off-season it’s been really quiet. I had two different roommates during my stay, but most of the time we were almost the only guests. At the time I wrote this, I was the only person in the whole building. Staff aren't always around then, probably because it’s not worth having someone there for one guest, so call ahead if you plan to check in in the off-season. The breakfast room is comfortable and has a nice view. The hostel is right in the city centre, and you can walk to it from the airport if you don't mind the walk. The room is fine, the kitchen has what you need, and Wi-Fi is free.
