Maia dos Reis Hotel Rural

The location worked well for exploring Porto and beyond: the local train gets you into Porto in about 20 minutes at a reasonable fare, while the Duoro valley and places like Aveiro are easy to reach by car. We spent a week at Hotel Maia Dos Reis and had everything we needed from the moment we arrived. Our host and the staff were warm and attentive, the facilities were to a very high standard, and our room was cleaned daily. Breakfast was amazing, and the on-site restaurant served delicious Portuguese specialities at lunch and dinner. Thanks to Antonio, Caterina and the whole team for making our first trip to Portugal so good. We hope to return.

I could have stayed there forever. The place has the feel of a renovated family farm, and the owner goes out of his way to make you feel at home. The hotel is beautiful, peaceful and spotless, with very comfortable rooms, beds and linens. There’s also a restaurant on site with tasty food. I recommend the « Cabritu ». And there are enough clocks around that you don’t need to bring your watch. A rare find in 2025. Thanks, and see you soon.

We only managed one night, but I’d happily come back if I’m in the area again. The owner was attentive and very helpful, and we enjoyed breakfast. It’s a lovely hotel where we felt welcome. Obrigada!

TERRIBLE!!! I booked through Booking.com because the listing said an "airport shuttle" was included, without saying it cost extra. I expected that transport would be flexible, but there was no shuttle, just a cab they book and charge as an added service. The room also had no air conditioning. I paid 30£ for dinner and got food that seemed reheated and clearly hadn’t been cooked at the time. I’m never coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
