Room 1 was huge and comfortable, with the biggest bed I’ve ever seen, and the shower had plenty of hot water. Fresh garden flowers were everywhere, even in our room and en-suite. The guesthouse is beautiful, full of gorgeous vintage furniture and decor, and the host was welcoming and extremely helpful. There were complimentary hot and cold drinks, cake, and biscuits for guests, a lovely touch we really appreciated. We also enjoyed relaxing by the pool and in the gardens, playing snooker, chess, and draughts, and using the communal sitting room for cards. Breakfast was an impressive spread, really delicious and filling. I can’t recommend this place enough.

The staff are friendly and helpful, and there’s a generous supply of cakes, biscuits, coffee, and more. Casa das Obras feels like living history: a 16th century architectural time capsule, filled with furniture and stories from its 400 years of occupation. It’s still homely and has all the modern comforts, including a pool garden, games room, TV lounge, and sitting room.

The breakfast and service were lovely, and it’s an easy walk down the road to local restaurants and shops. Parking might be a little tricky because of the narrow road, but that wouldn’t put me off. The rooms are a great size, and there was a slight musty smell in the bathroom, though it didn’t bother me. A cozy one-night stay and a unique experience. Highly recommend!

The old details are what make this place so amazing. They’ve done some basic modernizing, but kept the original wall paintings, wooden floors, ceiling details and furniture. I was completely in awe. The most beautiful place I’ve ever stayed. A must visit!
