The staff were the best part of our stay, especially the front desk. Heavy rain made the short walks to restaurants difficult both nights, so as we were leaving they drove us to a restaurant and arranged for the restaurant staff to bring us back. They did this on both nights. That kindness is what we’ll remember about our time in Marvao, not the storms. The hotel is within walking distance of the castle, and our small double room was comfortable enough. The breakfast buffet was beautiful, with everything from freshly baked bread and sweets to eggs made just how you wanted. We stayed two nights in February 2026. Thank you for making it memorable.

The stone stairs are steep and uneven, so getting to the rooms could be difficult for guests with significant mobility limitations. The building’s historic character is part of the charm, though, and Dom Dinis Marvão has a distinct, traditional elegance. Rooms are comfortable and restful, the staff are attentive, and the generous complimentary breakfast starts at 8:00 AM. A memorable, high quality place to stay.

The hotel staff were very friendly, and we enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine in the jacuzzi with its beautiful view. The restaurants were great too. Marvão is a must-see in Portugal, with a small town inside the castle walls, a well-preserved castle and breathtaking views. The road up is a little narrow, but manageable.

The view from the window was amazing, and the location is premium. The room itself felt quite old, though, and could use a renovation, especially the old, oversized furniture.

This is a magical, romantic town, and we loved staying here. Our room was clean and beautiful, with a balcony, and the staff were so friendly. The jacuzzi was spotless, and they brought us a couple of glasses of wine to enjoy there. Breakfast was perfect and the price was great. Just be aware there are lots of steps and uneven ground, so it may not suit people who have trouble walking.
