Ocean Porto - Beach House

Fatma was such a kind caretaker. She made us breakfast at 7:30 in the morning so we could catch our flight, even though the usual time is 8. Since there’s no lift, she also carried my wife’s bag. Her English wasn’t very good, but she tried her best to make us comfortable. 10/10 to her! The host and owner was flexible too, helped us communicate with Fatma, and arranged the early breakfast. He’d already prepared the Jacuzzi, so I could enjoy that, and he also recommended a nearby restaurant. The location is great, almost in the Matosinhos city centre, with lots of places to eat and a Metro or Bus station not far away. The airport is 10 minutes by taxi. We paid Euro 111 for one night including breakfast, which I thought was a great deal. A couple of things might be inconvenient for some people. There’s no lift to carry luggage to the second floor, though our small carry-on bags were no problem. The tram or metro line right next to the property makes a lot of noise. We slept fine, but it could bother others. The bathroom door also didn’t move smoothly and took some effort, which was annoying. I suggest the owners fix it.

The staff were polite and helpful, and breakfast was really good. The hotel has a simple but nicely put-together feel, with bright, airy rooms and beach-inspired decor. It's only five minutes from the beach. I'd definitely come back.

We spent our first night on the Camino here, and it was a lovely choice. The backyard dipping pool was a nice touch, and both the rooms and shared space looked beautiful. Such a sweet boho-style guest house, with a wonderful breakfast too.

Ivo, who I think is the owner or manager, was very helpful with restaurant tips and speaks almost perfect English. We went as a couple, though there were families staying too, and with just nine rooms it never felt busy. The house is well kept, and the rooms and beds are comfortable. Getting into central Porto is easy by bus, tram, or taxi, or you can walk along the coast if it's not too hot. The beach is about five minutes away, and there's a lido with slightly warmer seawater about half an hour down the coast. The metro runs along the road out front, so background noise could be an issue if you're sensitive to it. We live in a town, though, and it didn't bother us.
