Quinta da Calçada

The accommodation and its surroundings are charming and beautiful, and it's well located in Melgaço. The service was very friendly, though we expected more from it and from breakfast. Breakfast had plenty, but could be better with fresh local products and a little more variety. We missed having natural juice instead of bottled juice. Daily room cleaning just meant making the bed. We were very comfortable and would return if these points improve.

The owner was really friendly, and the hostess was so attentive. We had a lovely, peaceful stay. The pool could have been cleaned better. We could swim, but there were a few insects.

Waking among the centuries-old camellias, with the wide river in the distance, made the mornings feel restorative. The house is quiet, and the rooms for guests are on the ground floor, thoughtfully decorated with those little details travelers appreciate. Outside, there’s a huge garden and farmland around this beautiful Portuguese home. Olinda Duque takes care of breakfast and welcomes guests warmly, with local cheeses, fresh juices, homemade jams, and all sorts of other treats.

The kids loved the pool, and there’s a great outdoor area with everything well kept. It’s also close enough to the village center to walk to restaurants and places to visit. A lovely spot, highly recommend staying here!
