Everything else about the house was excellent, including its location, decor, kitchen, and cleanliness. But we arrived in the middle of February to find it freezing, with no heating, despite heating being advertised on the booking website. The house had clearly been empty, and the cold got worse as the night went on. The owner said the fireplace and the four small pieces of wood left there were the heating. I explained several times that a fireplace isn't what I understood by heating, which suggests radiators or space heaters, and there wasn't enough wood for two days anyway. The fireplace was small for the large living and dining room, and no heat reached the main bedroom at the other end of the house. I imagine it would be fresh and cool in summer, but I was really disappointed and uncomfortable when the owner wouldn't provide what had been advertised. It felt irresponsible and unprofessional. A neighbour eventually brought firewood, without any admission of fault from the owner, and said we weren't the first guests to complain about the cold and lack of heating. The reservation was eventually cancelled, and the owner told me to leave at 10pm. Getting the cancellation refunded didn't make up for six hours of awkward messages, then packing in a foreign country at night with two dogs and trying to find somewhere else to stay. It was discourteous and unprofessional, and it wasn't right to advertise things inaccurately and handle the problem so poorly.

The village is peaceful and the scenery is spectacular. The house itself is beautiful, roomy, and comfortable, and the owner was incredibly kind and helpful. I'd recommend it completely. The one thing I'd check is the security of the windows. Otherwise, it's fantastic.

We loved our stay! The village is very quiet, and the house was spacious with everything we needed to have a pleasant time. Our dogs, Toy and Luna, felt right at home.

A wonderful terrace and comfortable rooms with the basics, all kept very clean. Samuel and his family are lovely, and the place feels secluded and peaceful, about 20 minutes from Alcoutim. I'd definitely come back.

This owner had no courtesy at all. We were kicked out, and the whole thing was handled by WhatsApp. He didn't even call to try to sort it out like human beings. The Booking.com listing said the house had heating, but when we arrived in February it was freezing and there was no obvious heating. The owner said the fireplace was the heating, or we could pay an extra €25 for a gas stove. There were only four symbolic sticks for the fireplace, so we asked for firewood. His answer was, “It’s 21 degrees in Alcautim right now...” Sure, but it was February and the house was freezing. After arguing all afternoon, he said we could buy wood in town. A neighbour eventually lent us some and said this wasn't the first complaint about the heating. She was tired of telling the owner to raise the price and include proper heating. We emailed Booking.com, and they cancelled the reservation because of an error. At 11 PM, the owner emailed to say we had to leave if the problem wasn't resolved within an hour. After talking with Booking.com, we learned he didn't want us to book again, so they had to relocate us in the middle of the night, without dinner and with our two dogs. We were stunned by his lack of shame and manners. It's a shame we can't post this review on Booking.com. The jacuzzi worked very well, but the water heater was malfunctioning. We had to keep an eye on it because the water would suddenly turn cold and become useless. Aside from the heating and the owner's lack of courtesy, the house was very nice and well equipped.
