We went with our car and tent. It’s a simple campsite with clean restrooms, very friendly staff, and a great location. It’s affordable too. I’d stay again!

The restaurant just behind reception was really good, and the owners were extremely friendly. I’d give the restaurant five stars on its own. The campsite is also in a perfect spot, five minutes on foot from the beach and about twenty minutes from the village. The sanitary facilities are a little old, but they were always clean.

The couple at the bar deserve a mention. They were always friendly and cooked some very good dishes for the kids. The location is quiet and the beach is a short walk away. Mira beach has had a blue flag for many years and has soft sand, though, like other places on the Atlantic coast, it can be windy. I thought the park was too expensive for the quality and amenities. The bungalow kept having power cuts, the sewage system hadn’t been cleaned, and the park itself felt bland. There were no shaded areas, tables, or barbecue spots, and with only a few tents spaced out, there wasn’t much atmosphere. Portugal needs to rethink holiday prices and quality, as other EU countries are improving their offers with better quality and lower prices.

At night, it’s so quiet that all you hear are crickets and waves rolling onto the beach. The campsite has different sections for tents and for campervans or caravans. We have a caravan and awning, so I can’t comment on the rooms or service. There’s always plenty of hot water for showers and washing up, and reception is very helpful if you need advice on what to do nearby. The beach is a five to ten minute walk away. Priai de Mira is about five minutes by bike or 15-20 minutes on foot. You can walk into town on the wooden path along the top of the dunes. My advice is to visit Priai de Costa Nova at the top of the peninsula. Drive or cycle along the back road, go through Priai de Barra, turn left at the crossroads, and cross the bridge towards the beach car park. Just after the bridge, take a sharp right and keep going.
