The host left us fresh bread, cheese, ham, coffee, and treats, which was fantastic. The views from up in this medieval village feel almost unreal. Getting to the property means a fairly steep walk up cobblestones.

Casa Adufe is a lovely, spacious unit in a great spot for exploring Monsanto. The kitchen is well equipped, the bathroom is easy to use, and parking is available in a nearby lot, though spaces are limited. The alley up to the unit is steep, cobbled, and has stairs, so think twice before bringing large bags. It was hard to find in the dark because there’s very little lighting. I didn’t notice construction. Breakfast is brought to the room, but I found it a bit disappointing: two slices each of cheese and store-bought ham, packaged cookies, crackers, pastries, butter, jam, apples, and half a loaf of sliced bread delivered in the morning. The local water came in a glass container. There weren’t many village places open for an evening meal or snack, so we were glad we’d brought food to cook in the unit. Our check-in person spoke limited English, so we shared basic information using Google Translate and What's App. A guide in the room with cafés, a map, and points of interest would be helpful. It was a great stay, and I’d definitely recommend it.

The host who greeted us was so kind and took us through everything when we arrived. The house was completely clean, beautifully restored, and comfortable and practical, with all the little things covered, from luggage spots to extra blankets and pillows. There were plenty of heaters and coolers, fresh bread and groceries, multiple balconies for coffee, and a lovely hot shower. The location at the top of town was brilliant. We couldn’t have been happier with the stay, the town, or the memories. We’ll come back and tell people about this treasure.

The village location is hard to beat, and the place itself is comfortable and nice. Fresh bread arrived in the morning, along with some packaged crackers and other things in the fridge for breakfast. I’d assumed there would be a shared place to eat, but that wasn’t mentioned on the website, and I should have asked. There was construction right outside the front door. I understand the work, but the company could have told me when I booked months earlier, since I would have chosen one of their other rooms. I’d wait until the construction is finished before booking this one. There’s also a room above, and you can hear everything because the floor has no soundproofing.

Monsanto is a magical town, and this is a lovely place to stay. It’s a beautifully restored traditional house with amazing views.
