Our meal was inexpensive, with fresh food and generous portions. The chef even came out to check that we were enjoying it. The staff were really accommodating with our different dietary needs, including vegetarian and vegan requests.

The fog covered the sightseeing, and I’ve had much better food in Montalegre, so the visit fell short of what I expected. People had told me the food was perfect and the sights were overwhelming, but I’d suggest keeping expectations in check. I found the place overhyped. I also tried emailing for more than 2 weeks to make a reservation, then turned to Facebook Messenger, which was the only way I got through. By then, they were fully booked.

There’s a lovely garden and a kids park outside, and the place is quiet, with a beautiful view near Douro River. It’s good for couples or families. The food is very good, prices are regular, and the staff are really nice. Definitely somewhere I’d return to.
