By The Beach

The location was excellent, and the room was clean with a small ocean view, but a frightening mix-up ruined my night. I was traveling alone, as I have for seven years, and had never been through anything like this before. When I arrived, I was told to check in at the neighboring Hotel Oceano. My booking was in my name, although my friend had made it through his account. Check-in went smoothly, and I was given Room 31. About six hours later, around 9:30 PM, someone knocked. A man asked my name and said he was from reception. I felt uneasy because I'd heard two male voices talking before the knock, so I called the police right away. The By the Beach Hotel receptionist answered when I called and said a woman with a different booking had mistakenly been assigned my room. She'd entered and heard the TV, realized the room was occupied, and told reception. He said he'd come up to check on me. But how had he given her the room without noticing the key card was missing? That explanation didn't make me feel safe. I still had a bad feeling, and called the police again. They arrived within 10 minutes. The receptionist and the woman who'd been given the wrong room spoke with them, but I found her behavior suspicious. Nobody at the hotel apologized. Once the police left, I was so shaken and upset that I couldn't think about going out for dinner. I pushed furniture against the door and tried to sleep. In the morning, I went to check out and saw the woman who had complained that I was in her room sweeping outside the hotel. I believe By the Beach Hotel has serious issues, and I urge Booking.com and the police to investigate further.

For a solo woman, I felt safe and had no problems during my overnight stay. Check-in and check-out were very professional, and the location was great. The clean room was good and had a sea view. You can hear noise from neighboring rooms, and the bed wasn't especially comfortable, though it was fine.

The room was cozy, with a great bathroom and a big shower. Having a kettle and complimentary tea there was a nice touch. It's close to both the beach and the village center.

We loved our stay. The room was clean and cozy, with an urban feel to the design. The location is perfect, and the price was affordable.
