Dom João Hotel

We needed a place for the night after missing the last train to Badajoz on our way from Madrid to Lissabon. We’d been stranded in Entroncamento, so we checked Google Maps and walked 10-15 minutes to the hotel with our 26kg suitcase. Check-in was easy, and the place was quiet, relaxed, and relatively cheap. For 65 eur, or 32.5 pp, we got everything we expected, plus a cute balcony. I asked for a kettle, and at 3pm they switched on the coffee machine so we could get hot water. That was really kind, and meant we could make tea and noodles we’d picked up the day before. It made our day in entroncamento. I also went up to the rooftop and woke a few pigeons from their nap, lol. You can even have a bath to unwind. A solid hotel and exactly what we needed for one night.

Entroncamento was pretty dead on the Saturday night we stayed, and there’s no restaurant at the hotel. It’s a modern place in a quiet location, though, and they’ll make scrambled eggs for breakfast if you ask.

We found the breakfast buffet quite satisfying, and the rooms were clean. The staff were friendly and helpful too. Dom Joao made our time in Entroncamento even more pleasant. Highly recommended.

The hotel is a bit far from the big Portuguese cities, but the rooms were great, from the design and cleanliness to the comfort and wifi. Breakfast was a little disappointing, though. Still, it was a very good hotel and a great experience.
