Lov'in Book Guesthouse

The location is excellent. Óbidos old town in the morning is mesmerizing, and that alone made one night worthwhile. We had booked two nights but left after one. It’s a nice guesthouse within the old city walls, but it isn’t a three-star hotel as Google’s description says. The rooms look nice and the beds are very comfortable, though the layout isn’t practical. There’s nowhere for a suitcase, no kettle in the room, and the tap is awkward despite being decorative. The room was VERY cold, and took us more than seven hours to warm up. Maybe the insulation needs attention. We spent half the night freezing. We didn’t feel there was much service. There’s an entry “lobby” with a chair, plus a shared fridge, kettle, and coffee maker. Coffee and tea cost extra. At about £100 a night, paying for those too felt like a bit much. Luckily, we had brought our own tea. Parking is in a public lot outside the walls, about 200 meters away. It doesn’t feel like ordinary street parking, and the route is steep in places with uncomfortable pavement and some steps. With the big suitcases we had for a long trip, getting there and carrying them up was neither easy nor pleasant.
