Casa Amor Olhão

The welcome from Walter, Jaques, and the team made us feel like family, and they looked after us so well. Casa Amor is a beautiful house, carefully and elegantly renovated with real thought behind it. Our room was very comfortable, with lovely linen, toiletries, and all the little details you could want. We also enjoyed the sunny rooftop pool and the restored sitting room and library. Breakfast was generous and varied, with fresh baking each day from the on-site cafe and wonderful local ingredients. We had such a memorable stay and would happily recommend Casa Amor. We hope we can return soon. ❤️

The rooftop terrace is still one of my favourite places, a peaceful, sunlit retreat, and breakfast is sublime. Jacques and Walter have filled Casa Amor with lovely details and thoughtful touches. It’s our third stay, and each time has felt just as magical. We’ve been visiting Olhao since 2008 for its beauty, charm, authentic character, wonderful food, and warm people. It’s a real Portuguese fishing town, and now we have a special place to stay there too. We used to keep Olhao to ourselves, not wanting it overrun with the wrong sort of selfie stick wielding tourist. Now we feel the same way about Casa Amor. Rooms are getting harder to book, and I understand why. We’ve already reserved our next stay for a few months from now and are counting down the days.

We felt right at home at Casa Amor and would be glad to return. The team were so welcoming and kind, and we enjoyed the tasty breakfast and lovely conversations. The building is beautiful, our room was just right, and the rooftop terrace is a lovely place to spend time. Cordula and Matias

The food alone made breakfast feel like an experience, with a different spread each day in the courtyard and homemade cakes and pastries to die for. The hosts, Jack and Walter, give the whole hotel a relaxed feel and clearly run it with love. There are thoughtful design details everywhere, including a calm lounge in a former chapel where ice and herbal tea are always available. We stayed a few nights as a couple and loved the rooftop pool. It’s small, with lovely simple design, just long enough to float around in, and the water quality was excellent. The hotel sits among the scruffy but cool buildings of the old working-class fishing quarter, with cobbled lanes leading a short walk to the harbour and lots of pleasant pavement cafes. We’d recommend it to couples and hope to come back.
