Rosa and her family gave the four of us, two adults and two children, such a warm welcome. We had a wonderful week in the beautiful house, which has everything you need, and they were easy to reach whenever a question came up. They’re also putting care into the house and garden, planting new flowers after the devastating wildfire in October 2017 destroyed much of the surrounding forest and houses in the villages. The area is a lovely quiet base for exploring Serra da Estrela natural park, visiting the many praia fluvial, or wandering through nearby Portuguese villages. We’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful place.

After a tiring hike, this was a great place to come back to. The view is lovely, the kitchen is good, and there’s a Lidle nearby for whatever you need. The hospita was very friendly too.

We really enjoyed the peace here, away from civilization, with nature all around. The house is magnificent, comfortable, clean, and has all the amenities you need. The view is superb, and the owner is so kind. It could use better vehicle access and internet, but those were the only things missing. Highly recommend it for a couple of nights of proper rest or a quiet week in the countryside. :) (y)

The mountain was heartbreaking to see, so bare after the forest burned. Workers were cutting logs, and there wasn’t a single green tree. We didn’t stay to see inside the house, which may well have been fine, and we didn’t contact Doña Rosa because the view had left us devastated. The ground nearby wasn’t firm, so getting around was difficult, and we got stuck without even taking photos. The exterior advertising gave a misleading impression. It seems you need to drive several kilometres to reach green areas, and with all the mountain bends, that takes more than 25 minutes. It’s truly sad to see this happen to such a beautiful country as Portugal. Who burns the forests?
