Quinta dos Moinhos

I stayed here for two nights and wouldn’t recommend it. The grounds were pleasant, the staff member was very friendly, and there were lots of animals, which was fun. But I saw both the caretaker’s house and the mill house, and wouldn’t recommend either one. There were plenty of things missing compared with what had been advertised. When I raised them, the owner was very rude and basically told me to leave, saying, “If you’re not satisfied, I just have to open the gate for you to go.” It was disappointing that he wouldn’t accept any criticism. The house needed a lot of repairs. The kitchen sink and the en-suite bathroom sink were clogged, there were cobwebs on the windows, and the front door and window shutters were damaged and noisy. There was nowhere to hang clothes, not much light, too few outlets, and some lamps had no bulbs. The TV picture kept freezing, and the sheets were dirty in the middle. There was no disinfectant gel in the house or shared areas, and the whole property was dark at night because the common areas had no lights. There was also a radio that didn’t work, just there for decoration. The shared barbecue was in an enclosed room with no restrictions in place during the Covid pandemic.
