Aldeamento Turistico de Palmela

The bed was a couch, and it wasn’t comfortable. The bigger problem, though, was how dirty the place was. In the first room, the couch cushions had floor dust and hairs right beside the pillow I was meant to sleep on. They moved us to another room, which was a little better but still not clean. The couch and armchair were covered in stains, and the ceiling had a huge shoe print and leftover bugs. There were no excuses for this level of cleanliness. There’s potential here. Breakfast was good, with fresh baked bread, fruit, cereal, different teas, and cake. The breakfast staff were very friendly, and the receptionist kindly let us put our bike under the stairs. The rooms are large and have the appliances you need. The TVs are old but have satellite, so we could watch Portugal 🇵🇹 beat Hungary 🇭🇺 3-0. With proper room cleaning and better upkeep of the grass, this place could be much better.

The room at Aldeamento Turistico de Palmela was filthy and had piles of rubbish. It was so bad that I couldn’t feel comfortable or safe there. When I raised it with management, they showed no interest and wouldn’t do anything about it. The lack of basic hygiene and customer service was disgraceful. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

The pool was peaceful and genuinely relaxing, and the staff were lovely. The cleaning staff were nice to talk to and apologized for not getting the bug spray sooner. When we told the staff about the insects and the back door, they were kind and helpful. Still, not having a proper bed really bothered us, and I wouldn’t want to return after this stay. We chose the place because the photos looked lovely and the price was good. It’s in the middle of nowhere, but we were fine with that, thinking it would be quiet. Finding reception was difficult because nothing was marked. We knew we’d booked a studio apartment, but had hoped for a bed rather than a pull out couch. The TV barely worked, the couch was uncomfortable to sleep on, the pillows looked yellow from sweat and not being washed, and the duvet had no cover. The back door wouldn’t lock, which didn’t feel safe. There were cockroaches and lots of ants in the bedroom, plus black hairs around the pillows and toilet, although neither of us has black hair. The ceiling had a big shoe print and dead bugs too. The place is quite dated, but it does have potential if it’s better looked after.

The manager showed no interest in dealing with the mess or offering a solution. I wouldn’t recommend staying at Aldeamento Turistico de Palmela. The room was filthy, with rubbish piled under the beds and sofa. I travel often and haven’t seen hygiene this poor before. It was unacceptable for guest comfort and basic cleanliness.
