I don't consider this place safe for women. The host is intrusive and controlling. Please look at the Booking reviews for more detail about his character. I wouldn't stay here.

I felt badly overcharged for laundry. It came to 40 euros for a pile of hiking clothes that will be thrown away after the Camino. Nothing in the room's information sheet mentioned the price, and Fernando didn't explain it when he offered to wash my things. I specifically said there was nothing special to do, just put everything together in the washer and dryer, and he agreed. When he handed me the 40 euro bill, he said each item had been handled separately and charged on its own. I should have asked first, but I would have been fine with any reasonable price. I paid 6 euro for the same thing in Lisbon. An expensive lesson!

The owner made an already unpleasant stay worse by bringing up American politics over dinner. Earlier, I was spoken to rudely, told to shut the windows because flies would get in, given the wrong room, and told to turn off all my lights. I stayed here in May 2019 while walking the camino, and it wasn't a good experience.

Dinner at the Casa was lovely, with good conversation around a shared table of other guests. Zezinha cooked, and her husband Fernando hosted. Drinks weren't part of the meal, but you could choose what you wanted. Fernando had wines starting at 9 euros a bottle. The Casa isn't within walking distance of restaurants, but Zezinha offered either a lift to one nearby or dinner there. Our clean, comfortable room was upstairs with the three guest rooms, while the lower level had shared seating and a fridge of reasonably priced drinks and snacks. The guesthouse is beautiful and clearly cared for with real pride. I was a little nervous after reading some Google and TripAdvisor reviews, but they didn't match my own stay. I can understand that the hosts sometimes remind people to remove their shoes inside, since that's not a cultural norm everywhere. Zezinha welcomed us and showed us around after we followed the signs from the Camino, which made the Casa easy to find. My husband and I stayed one night while walking the Camino. I'd happily return and recommend it to others.
